DIY Mechanic
I am a DIY mechanic. I began by helping my father to change the oil when I was a boy. I learned how to wash and care for my vehicle in order to spot damages or developing problems. For many years I lived in apartments that prevented me from working on my vehicles; however, I was determined to purchase a vehicle that was simple to work on, did not require a lift (since it was high enough to climb underneath), and was reliable enough that I could learn as I went along.
Over the years of ownership, I have acquired some basic tools, which allows me to perform some more advanced mechanical procedures. I reference YouTube constantly and since these vehicles have a large cult following there are plenty of instructional videos and forums available to teach diy mechanics.
These Toyotas are incredibly easy to work on and increase one's confidence in their mechanical skills. They require simple tools, and parts are generally affordable due to widespread availability. I had heard that since Japan is an island and resources are more difficult to acquire, they spent the time to engineer superior vehicles that can survive extreme environments without the high maintenance associated with American or European vehicles.
In addition to wanting a reliable vehicle if wanting to learn how to work on vehicles is important to you these trucks are a perfect fit! If not, your mechanic will appreciate it and you won't lose a small fortune with each visit.
